A Fun-Filled Day at the Acton Village Hall Community Summer Fundraiser
On Saturday 24th August, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Community Summer Fundraiser at Acton Village Hall, Suffolk — and it was such a wonderful day from start to finish! From the moment I arrived, there was such a buzz of excitement. Families, children, and even a few four-legged friends filled the hall and outdoor space, creating a lively atmosphere that really captured the best of summer community spirit.
Meeting Lovely Families, Pets & Local Businesses
One of the highlights for me was meeting so many lovely families, fellow small businesses, and even some gorgeous pets throughout the day. It’s always inspiring to see how much talent, creativity, and kindness we have right here in our local community. The children’s business market was such a brilliant idea — young entrepreneurs proudly showing off their creations was a joy to witness. I also got to chat with other small business owners, and it reminded me how important it is to support one another locally. Of course, I couldn’t resist snapping lots of photos throughout the day — there were so many smiles, laughs, and special moments that deserved to be captured.
Entertainment & Timetable of Performances
The day was packed full of entertainment, and the live timetable really brought the event to life:
- 12:00pm – Phoenix Marchers (20 minutes of energy to kick things off!)
- 1:00pm – Tim Hackford with music that got toes tapping.
- 2:00pm – Twilight Twirlers brought sparkle and fun with their twirling performance.
- 2:30pm – Phoenix Marchers returned for an encore.
- 3:00pm – Roy Lodge filled the afternoon with music.
- 4:00pm – Babe & The Boomers rounded off the day in style with their lively set.
Activities & Fun for All Ages
Alongside the performances, there was so much happening:
- 🎶 Live Music & Performances all afternoon.
- 🎪 Inflatables and family fun that kids loved.
- 🍔 Food trucks & licensed bar serving delicious treats.
- 🎨 Workshops and creative activities for families.
- 🛍️ Stalls & markets bursting with local talent and creativity.
Fun, Memories & Community Spirit
What I loved most was how relaxed and welcoming the event felt. Families mingled, children ran around with huge smiles, and there was a real sense of everyone coming together to support something positive. It was fun, uplifting, and full of genuine connection.
Why I’d Recommend Events Like This
If you live near Acton, Sudbury, Haverhill, or across the Suffolk/Essex/Cambridge borders, keep an eye out for future events like this. Not only are they affordable (entry was just £1 per person!), but they’re the perfect way to make memories, meet new people, and support the wonderful businesses that make our local community so unique.
A huge thank you to the organisers, volunteers, and stallholders who made this such a fantastic day — I left with a big smile, a full camera, and a heart full of joy.
